Directions for Oliebollen:
- Stir 1 litre lukewarm water into the mix until smooth. (Optional: add 2 cups soaked and drained raisins and/or currants).
- Cover, and let rise for about 30-45 minutes.
- Deep fry by tablespoon in hot oil (375°F) until golden on both sides.
- Remove onto paper towels to drain. If the centre is doughy, the oil is too hot.
- Serve warm with a sprinkling of icing sugar.
Variations:
Add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 100g coarsely chopped hazelnuts,100g soaked raisins to batter.
