Kaaspraak (Cheese Mash)
This is a simple recipe and an easy, cheesy comfort food!
Ingredients
- 4 cups peeled and diced potatoes
- 1 cup cubed Komijnekaas
- 1 Medium onion
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 ounces milk
- ½ cup butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Pre-heat the oven to 350°F
- Peel and slice the onion
- Cook onion in the butter until golden and translucent.
- Cook the potatoes in the milk and stock.
- Mash the potatoes. They should not be too thick.
- Add salt and pepper to taste. The cheese and broth both have salt, so be careful!
- Mix in the cheese and onions. Place in an oven proof dish.
- Place in oven, uncovered, for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Serve with a side of vegetables and enjoy!
