Looking for a quick, delicious protein punch? Try this quick recipe for cooked kapucijners (marrowfat peas in English) with some bacon because bacon makes everythign better.

Directions:

  • Slice the onions into rings.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and cook the bacon about 4 minutes until ready.
  • Add the onion rings and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  • Drain the kapucijners and rinse under cold water. Allow to drain for a few minutes.
  • Add to the bacon and onion mixture and heat through.
  • Add the mustard, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Slice the pickles into small pieces and sprinkle on top, or serve on the side.
  • Serve with apple syrup.
